MTN 4G NOW AVAILABLE IN NIGERIA

MTN 4G. Now available to all MTN subscribers in nigeria depending on the device you are using!

All MTN subscribers who own 4G enabled devices, get access to the MTN 4G superfast speeds.

Depending on the device you are using, find out how you can easily upgrade your software and/or activate MTN 4G network on your smartphone!

For iphone users can check latest software for their device by following the steps here

Step 1 From the homescreen, tap Settings

Step 2 Scroll to Notifications and tap General

Step 3 Tap Software Update

Step 4 If an update is available, follow the prompts to download and install the update

For android enable 4g devices users can check latest software for their device by following the below steps here

Step 1 From the home screen, tap Apps menu

Step 2 Scroll and tap Settings

Step 3 Scroll to the System section and tap System Update

Step 4 Tap Update now

Step 5 If a system update is available, follow the prompts to install the update. Otherwise tap OK.

For users of blackberry z30 do not need any upgrade as the phone comes with 4g enabled software

We’ve followed MTN’s LTE journey for quite a bit now. As early as this years, it was all around the news that MTN had 4G LTE plans, starting with a migration from its old TDMA based network to an IP-based one to testing LTE networks across the country. Then untill recently, when news filtered out that MTN was acquiring Visafone for their 4G LTE license and spectrum, while the 4g is now available on your 4g enabled device but you can expect to start using it by july this year in selected Nigerian cities. They are going to do this using the 800MHz frequency they secured from Visafone earlier this year. By the end of this year, they should have 1,500 LTE sites transmitted with fibre optics.
The chosen cities for this launch have been selected as a result of MTN’s analysis of data usage across the country. Right now, they haven’t disclosed what cities these are so we’ll just have to wait and see
